Then, suddenly, it happens… the unthinkable has become reality. There is a great deal of uncertainty now, along with gratitude for the life of one we love being spared. Soon though this apparent gratitude can change, tragically, and most significantly, for the survivor of the trauma. The survivor can pretty quickly feel – if they have any reasoning remaining – left without peers and without any resource to turn to.
That is where this website comes into play.
Steve Gregory went through the depths of rehabilitation after an Acquired Brain Injury. Over the last 20 years he has been developing ideas for rehabilitation which, after the activities of daily living are mastered, place more control in the hands of the survivor. This new self-administered recovery process is based on a survivor’s abilities, drive and adaptability and rooted in 5 aptitudes and skills: curiosity, mulling, self-awareness, creativity, and resilience.
Welcome to the Homepage of After ABI Rehab
After ABI Rehab’s mission is to provide practical direction for daily living for people who have experienced brain injury and are no longer participating in formal rehabilitation programs. After ABI Rehab promotes a unique self-help approach, building on processes which are self-sustaining.
We hope to be helpful to our visitors, who may be people who have experienced ABI Rehab/survivors, caregivers, professional therapists, health care providers or anyone wishing to know more about the possibilities in recovery from a serious brain injury.
